What is Chinese Medicine?
Chinese Medicine usually includes a combination of both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Chinese medicine focuses on treating the cause of illness as well symptoms.
How does acupuncture work?
This is a complex question. From a scientific point of view acupuncture works on the nervous systems, activating the parasympathetic NS, sending messages to the brain via insertion of needles close to specific nerve brannces, that then release endorphins etc.
From a Chinese Medicine point of view, acupuncture meets the person where they are today, using detailed pulse diagnosis I can feel wheresome feels pain, whether their digestive systems is sluggish or if they are feeling stressed. My treatments responses to what I feel on the pulse. This is what is also known as ‘balancing’.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture should not be painful; however there may be a sensation. We call this ‘de qi’, meaning that the point has been activated.

Is Chinese herbal medicine safe?
All Chinese herbs used in our clinic are TGA approved and tested for heavy metals and pesticides. No endangered species are used and we are vegetarian/vegan friendly.
How many treatments will I need?
Traditionally Chinese medicine was used to not only treat disease but prevent. However in the modern world Chinese medicine is often a last resort. Depending on your condition, length of illness and severity will depend on how many treatments are required.
